This was a wonderful and sweet read. The story is told from Al Fletcher's POV. Al has a heart of gold and a child-like voice that makes him completely unforgettable. He's not very bright and has low self-esteem but he deals with his limitations and makes the best of it. It's sad to see someone with such a big and open heart feel this way about themselves. Larry peels away at this and shows Al how talented he is and that he deserves to be loved just as much as anyone. Larry sees through Al's appearance and finds a kind and loving soul. They are a perfect match.
Although I loved the characters, at times I thought the book was a bit rushed. Many scenes were cut too short. I wanted more time with these characters.
If you want a feel-good, humorous story about a simple and lovable character then this is a story for you.
